Multiplied Assurances and Securities

“How amazing is this love, that God condescends to remove all cause for doubt and questioning from human fears and weakness and takes hold of the trembling hand reached up to Him in faith; and He helps us to trust Him by multiplied assurances and securities.”   That I May Know Him , Sept. 13 Isn’t that beautiful? Did you notice the date on the above quote? That is what I read in the devotional reading while in my hammock on September 13; the day I found out that ALS was a very real possibility, and when I had a “trembling hand reached up to Him”.  God’s timing is incredible! I see these “ multiplied assurances and securities ” as the loving blessings that the Lord gives to show His tender care even amid the trials that come. It is almost as if He is saying, “My child, the trial ahead may not be easy, but I will draw close to you and show you my love through the Providential blessings that I will send, even in the middle of it.” So what are a few of the “ multiplied assuran

My life has been so full and blessed.  I had a happy childhood, met my husband of 30 years in college and we welcomed the births of our four beautiful children together. We have a wealth of close friends and family and have shared many wonderful times. Our family photos chronicle a life of fun and fullness. We’ve seen the Lord’s hand in our lives and ministry. We’ve had some pain and a few bumps in the landscape (and we’ve helped many others through personal pain and heartache), but there has been relatively few clouds to darken the horizon of our lives personally. I am blessed! Life is beautiful and sweet. So in the context of this peaceful backdrop I began experiencing some strange neurological symptoms in June and more in July while on a family mission trip to Jamaica... just some slight slurring of my speech and difficulty manipulating food in my mouth while chewing. Disturbing, but easy to “brush off” as nothing when I had good energy and felt great.   On returning to the
